Happy Late Christmas!

I meant to post this closer to Christmas, but blogging on an iPhone proved challenging. I was in the greater Washington, DC, area for the holiday and was lucky enough to visit Mt. Vernon, George Washington's estate. It's a special experience at Christmastime, as the house is decorated in the historic, non-tree manner, and the estate hosts special guests and events (like a peek at the usually-closed 3rd floor). Special Guest #1, in my opinion, was Aladdin, the Christmas camel! Apparently this was a tradition in George's day, and one the Mt. Vernon Ladies' Association continues. Aladdin is one year old and a Virginia native. He is set to return home after January 6.

Happy New Year, and to all a good night!

Studio Kitties

These kitties were found (with a couple more siblings, who have since found other homes) last fall behind the warehouse my studio is in. We think their mom was no longer around, because they were crying and very hungry. They come visit me most days—they walk along the tops of the partition walls between studios—and check out what I've been working on. Too bad they make me sneeze, cause they sure are cute. :)
